Sri Lanka Authorities Corner Suicide Bombers’ Brother Armed to the Teeth

Sri Lanka Anti-Terror Police officers Monday cornered and detained the eldest brother of two suicide bombers out of the island country’s capital of Colombo.

Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Ifran Ahmed was caught in one of the suburbs out of Colombo after police laid a dragnet on terror suspects.

Ifran’s brothers are said to have participated in the bombing of the two Five-Star Hotels of Shangri-La and Cinnamon Grand Hotels in Sri Lanka.

The two brothers killed with them some 39 foreigners who had booked the hotel for the holidays. Some eight Britons and four Americans are part of the foreigners killed in the blasts.

Hours after the blasts hit Colombo, the police arrested the brothers’ father who is a wealthy spice trader in Colombo.

While ISIS claimed responsibility for the terror attack that led to the death of some 253 people and injured 500 more, police believe that a local rebel group NTJ greatly participated in the mobilization.

Following the incident, government authorities invited foreign investigators to establish the perpetrators behind the Easter Sunday bombings.

The spice trader’s so was arrested with two huge swords, which police are now using as an exhibit to charge them.

The government was largely blamed for the attack when it emerged that America and India had warned the state two weeks before the attack, yet no action was taken.

The country’s police boss resigned last week in the wake of the investigations, with fate of the Defense Cabinet Secretary hanging in teh balance.

Police continue with a dusk-to-dawn curfew since the incident happened.
