Kiunjuri has replaced Sang with Agriculture deputy director Zachary Magara. Magara will become the first non Kalenjin to take charge of the board which is dominated by employees from the Rift Valley.

Sang’s termination is poised to raise a storm in the Rift Valley, a region whose leaders have maintained that their leaders are being targeted in the fight against corruption.

The NCPB has been embroiled in multi-million corruption scandals in 2018, involving maize and fertilizer. Some people have called for the board to be disbanded.
