Deputy President William Ruto was on Thursday back in western Kenya in what is seen by many political analysts as a strategy to cover every inch of the country before 2022 elections.

The DP was in Kakamega to officially open the new Bukura Agricultural College Complex. This was William Ruto’s third time return to Western in a span of two weeks.

According to the DP new Bukura complex cost the government sh200 million. Dr. Ruto presided over this year’s graduation ceremony at the institution.

“Graduates from agricultural colleges will benefit from a government internship programme to be rolled out in July,” he said. Western is seen as one of the battlegrounds in 2022 elections and the DP has been there many times in an attempt to woo the voters there.

Mr. Ruto was in Bungoma county on April 12 when he presided over the closure of this year’s national drama and films extravaganza at Kibabii University. He returned to the region a day later to conduct a fundraiser for the Amalemba Salvation church in Kakamega town.

While this was happening, Mr Ruto’s boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta was with his newfound bosom friend, Raila Odinga in China to negotiate loans and business deals.

Ruto is said to be targeting to convert areas that traditionally supported ODM leader Raila Odinga to his side to cushion himself against possible rejection by Central Kenya in 2022.

During his last visit to Kakamega, the DP attacked Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli who a day earlier had said his (Ruto’s) name will not be on the ballot in 2022.

Ruto said he had discovered the way to kingship was divine wisdom and that is why he is donating to churches. The DP restarted his Western onslaught two weeks ago after slowing down. He is believed to have chosen to keep his activities under wraps.

Mr Ruto’s local rival in the Rift Valley, Gideon Moi, was holed up in Kabarak receiving mourners, following the death of his elder brother, Jonathan Moi.

On Wednesday, Ruto went to the late Jonathan’s home in Kabimoi, Baringo County to convey his condolences.
