David De Gea Was Close To Tears In Man Utd Dressing Room After Man City Derby Defeat

Is he trying to make TheRed Devils pay for the many times he has saved the? David De Gea made another mistake as Manchester United saw their hopes of a top four finish dented by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils went into the game needing to respond, having lost seven of their last nine matches across all competitions.

But De Gea allowed City to take the lead against Manchester United, failing to save Bernardo Silva’s strike at the near post.

Leroy Sane then doubled the visitors’ lead and United were never able to get back into the game.

For De Gea, it was another day to forget.

Just days previously, the 28-year-old struggled as Everton hit four past him to win at Goodison Park.

And, before that, the Spain international had made a howler against Barcelona in the Champions League.

De Gea’s future at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season is uncertain, with the United star yet to sign a new contract.

And the Daily Mail say De Gea was close to tears after United’s defeat to City.

The mood around Old Trafford has dropped off in recent times with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer unable to motivate his underperforming stars.

But De Gea, it seems, is still committed to the cause.

Meanwhile, former City goalkeeper Joe Hart has tried to defend the United star following another dire performance.

“He should make that save because it’s his style,” the Burnley ‘keeper said on Sky Sports.

“He’s top quality at that. He’s just mistimed it. He’s gone to go with the sole of his boot and it’s hit him higher up the leg. His style is to be low down. At the moment it’s not going for him. Nine times out of ten he makes that save.

“He’s a top goalkeeper. I’ve never seen a keeper like him. I love watching him, he’s so brave, you can’t knock him.

“He could pass the ball, make a mistake and concede a goal but he would still be the same goalkeeper, making the same decisions.

“He’s a human being who cares about his football and playing for Manchester United. I’m sure he just wants to get back to the level and be their best player – saving them at every opportunity.”
