The twelve kilometers of ‘Beautifying Sheger’ riverside project and the construction of a central square is being supported by the Chinese government according to the Prime Minster Facebook page post.
”Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited the China Urban Construction Design and Research Institute to review and discuss the proposed design and development plan. He appreciated the efforts made by the engineers to contextualize to the needs of the city, and provided direction for the development to commence” Reads the Facebook post.
In his first day visit Ethiopian Prime Minster held meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and discussed on different bilateral issues including Chinese government support to the beautifying Sheger project, ahead of the Belt and Road Forum.
The Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his delegation has also visited the headquarters of the e-commerce giant Alibaba, in Hangzhou, China.
