Mozambique’s National Institute of Disaster Management said that about 682,500 people could be at risk from the storm in the northern Cabo Delgado and Niassa provinces. About 112,000 people were in areas where winds could be in excess of 120 km per hour, it said.

More than 700 people were killed in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe and at least three million were left in need of humanitarian assistance.

Kenneth is predicted to hit Tanzania, bringing winds of up to 200km/h (124 mph) and torrential rain.

According to BBC, Cyclone Kenneth could be the strongest cyclone ever recorded to make landfall in the East African region.

Residents have been told to expect damage to their houses and farms.

More than 700 people were killed in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe and at least three million were left in need of humanitarian assistance.

Tanzania’s Lindi, Mtwara and Ruvuma regions have been listed as the most prone to the weather, which is predicted to hit the country on Thursday.

Heavy rains are also expected in Nacala, Memba, Erati, Namapa, Mozambique Island, Mussoril and Monapo districts in the province of Nampula, northern Mozambique.

Kenyan Met department has warned that some parts of the country could be severely affected too.

According to the weatherman Kenya will not experience the cyclone but Isiolo, Western Kenya, Samburu and Nairobi will experience effects of the storm in the form of enhanced rainfall.

“It is FALSE that cyclone Kenneth will hit the Kenyan Coast. By the laws of physics, Cyclones cannot come this close to the equator. Landfall will be northern Mozambique as shown in the satellite image,” they said.
