Deputy President William Ruto has confirmed that he will attend the burial of Jonathan Toroitich, the deceased son of former President Daniel Moi.

According to Ruto’s spokesperson David Mugony, the DP has cleared his diary because he will be in Kabimoi, Baringo for the funeral.

Ruto will finally get to meet Mzee Moi, the man he has desperately wanted to meet since 2017 but to no avail.

On Wednesday, Ruto was forced to go to Jonathan Moi’s home after being denied access at Mzee Moi’s Kabarak Home.

He eulogized Jonathan as a man who valued hard work, diligence and dedication to whatever he put his mind to.

“His passing on is a great loss, not only to his family but to the country.” Ruto said on his twitter handle.

The Moi family has said that Jonathan’s burial will be a private affair and asked the public to respect their decision. It is not clear if Ruto will be allowed into the funeral.

But if he will be allowed, then he will get to meet the ailing former President.

Last year, Ruto visited Kabarak but was denied a chance to meet Moi, with the family saying Mzee was attending his medical check-up.

Only President Uhuru Kenyatta and COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli have been allowed to see Mzee since Jonathan’s demise.
