Rift Valley Leaders Brings Ruto Under Fire For Neglecting His Backyard

The mask has finally fallen! Rift Valley leaders are slowly waking up to question how the DP’s role, held by William Ruto has helped his backyard, six years later. In his own county of Uasin Gishu, there are no tangible government projects like new roads or new infrastructure, courtesy of Ruto’s lobbying  the residents can boast of.

”Raila came into govt one year ago and now people from Nyanza will get SGR,our own William Ruto has been in government  for six years and he has done nothing to our people. In Kisumu, flyovers are uncountable but in our big city Eldoret we don’t have even a single one ,” says Gladys Shollei, the Uasin Gishu Women Rep.

In a close comparison to Kisumu, which has been the bedrock of opposition politics for the last 50 years,Eldoret still has the same old roads it had when Moi left power in 2002 and nothing has changed, even with William Ruto being in the second most senior government official in the country. He has neglected his backyard.

Kisumu on the other hand registered immense infrastructural development for the 5 years Raila Odinga was in government as its Prime Minister, between 2007 to 2012.

Most recently, after the much publicized handshake between President Uhuru and Raila Odinga, the SGR will be extending to Kisumu, all this while,Ruto is politicking, not lobbying for the needs of his people in government. This then begs the question of whether the DP is just a man who is a master of lip service and no track record.
