‘Luo is the language of gods therefore must be respected,’ Babu hits out at Ruto

It seems like the battle of the tribes is still a bone to chew, especially amid our politicians.

During the weekend, DP Ruto was caught condemning ‘Raila’ and the ‘Luo’ community after a plan by President Uhuru Kenyatta to extend SGR to Kisumu and Busia border.

Speaking on Sunday as Christians celebrate Easter, DP Ruto condemned “watu wa kung’oa reli” for always causing problems.

“Tunawajua. ni watu wa kubomoa. Kama hawabomoi chama, wanabomoa nyumba , ama reli, why are we entertaining them?” Ruto said.

Remarks that were not taken so kindly.

DP Ruto for the remarks got slammed by political enthusiast Miguna Miguna, who said, “We must stop ethnic stereotyping and face reality. Mwongela, Maina, Mbugua, Mburu, Omondi, Kabira, Nyaga, Wanyama, Nzili and Muthuku are the faces of Kenyan railway vandalism. How many of them are Luos?”he posted on his Twitter.

Ruto further dealt a blow from Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, “But why would DP Ruto hold so much hate against a whole community?”

“We as Luos are not going to be intimidated by a dead snake,” he added in Luo vernacular.

It seems like the legislator is yet to be done with Ruto as he posted yet another video to hit out at the deputy president.

“Deputy President must respect Luos. I would love to remind him that Luo is the language of the gods therefore must be respected,” he remarked.

While the deputy president’s remarks clearly hit some low nerves, what exactly was his intention? To offend one of the major tribes in Kenya? Or simply another political banter to trigger his opponents?
