Shalom Hospital Didn’t commit criminal offence: Dr Oluga

Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union, KMPDU Secretary-General Dr Ouma Oluga has come forth to condemn how the government handled the embattled Shalom Hospital case.

The hospital has been accused of medical negligence after a woman on labour gave birth on the floor with no assistance as those with the responsibility took tea.

The vocal leader has condemned the government for treating the case as a criminal offence.

“Malpractice, Negligence and all Health related errors of omission by registered workers aren’t Criminal Offences,” tweeted Dr Oluga.

The harrowing incident saw National and County Health Regulatory bodies storm the facility for investigations.

The hospital owners have since been reprimanded while some nurses arrested awaiting prosecution.

However, Dr Oluga stated that the person who did the recording of the woman while giving birth to have committed a serious offence after intruding into the ladies privacy.

The man who recorded the incident said that the three nurses on duty refused to attend to the expectant woman despite being informed that her case was an emergency.
