Has the Luo Nation been so Loyal to Opposition Chief Raila Odinga that it forgot to champion for it’s welfare?

Well, such is the argument that a number of Kenyans and politicians have put on the table even as the Odinga syndrome continues to eat the Luo Nation.

There is no doubt that Luos are loyal to Raila Odinga and any person that goes against an Odinga decree is often seen as an enemy of the Luo Nation. With that in mind, a number of leaders from Luo Nyanza have time and again prioritized serving Odinga at the expense of serving the people that voted them to their various positions of power.

However it is important to note that a number of leaders from the Luo Nation have since seen the light and are drifting away from the Odingaism notion that has gripped the Luo people.

The recent Ugenya by-elections are a clear indication that people in Luo Nyanza are slowly but steadily drifting away from the Odingaism Loyalty.

There are also many cases in the 2017 General elections where a number of MPs and MCAs won various positions across Luo Nyanza despite not being members of Raila Odinga’s ODM.

Doubts still remain on whether Raila’s name will be on the ballot come 2022 or not and with that in mind, former Ndiwa MP Agostinho Neto took time off his busy Easter Schedule to remind the Luo Nation of why it was and it will still be difficult for Raila to be President.

According to Neto, he had prophesized in 2013 that it would be a tall order for Raila to beat Uhuruto in 2017, something that would later come to pass.

“2013 in Bondo at the Hon Ochanda’s homecoming party, I was an MP then, I told the Luo MPs present that it would be a tall order to beat Uhuruto in 2017, Not because Hon Raila was not popular, no! because there was a need to change tact in the face of statecraft. The Luos in their destructive nature are too intelligent to listen, I was branded a mole, accused of being a jubilee sympathizer and working for Uhuruto, and the list was long the only thing I remember now is 2017 sure came to pass” Said Neto.

Neto has reminded Luos that If a Luo wants to be President, the only sure path to this is working together with other tribes.

“If a Luo wants to be President, there has a been a tried and almost sure path, working together with other tribes in unity and honesty, starting with the Kalenjin.” Said Neto.
