A governor has promised to punish errant nurses who watched a woman give birth on the cold floor as they sipped their tea away.
Through a disturbing video, Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua, said he had learnt of the vice which happened in Athi River’s Shalom Hospital, and was following up with relevant authorities.
In an earlier tweet, the governor noted that the hospital was a private one and not under the County Government’s watch.
However, in his latest tweet, governor Mutua says regardless of whether Shalom falls under his administration or otherwise, the negligent nurses have to face the full wrath of the law.
In a video doing rounds on Social circles, a woman is seen to have just delivered a baby on the cold floor.
A man holding a camera is captured questioning the nurses on why they were sipping on their tea while watching an expectant mother deliver on the floor.
One of the nurses at the facility identifies herself as Edna, while remaining adamant to name her other colleague.
Medical negligence is a criminal offense that could lead to the jailing of a health practitioner.
An act or omission (failure to act) by a medical professional that deviates from the accepted medical standard of care.
Negligence on its own does not merit a medical malpractice claim, but when the negligence is the cause of injury to a patient, the case could well turn out in the favour of Medical Malpractice.
