S3X toys may be a way to stop teenage pregnancies

Many parents feel awkward about having The Talk with their kids. But while sex education can feel a bit cringey to discuss, it’s important for families to discuss issues such as contraception, STIs and pregnancies.

A sex therapist also thinks mums and dads should raise the topic of masturbation with their children. What’s more, she thinks buying daughters their own vibrators would be beneficial.

 She also believes it may encourage women to communicate more about their sexual pleasure. Schools don’t do enough to educate students about female pleasure. For this reason, she thinks parents should be tackling this subject at home.

“While boys learn about boners and wet dreams, the focus for girls is largely on menstruation and preventing unwanted pregnancy.

“Until the school system catches up, parents really need to be doing it at home, and that starts with normalizing, and encouraging, masturbation.”

She added: “By allowing your daughters to understand what sexual pleasure feels like, you’re empowering them to know the difference when they’re in a situation where a boy may be being too rough or they’re uncomfortable, and to actually speak up.”
