How two in Kisii were killed at borehole amid Easter Celebrations

Easter celebrations at Mosiabano village in Bonchari Sub-county, Kisii, were cut short on Friday by the deaths of two men working on a borehole.

Resident Evans Mbaka said a man called to extend the 40-foot borehole suffocated at about 11am.

“My brother Hadson Nyambiti went to help him but slipped on his way out and fell, hitting his head at the bottom of the borehole,” he said.

Mr Mbaka said the county’s disaster management team was contacted but that nothing could be done as the two had died.

“My elder brother, Eliud Manyange, the owner of the home, is in great shock. He has not talked to anyone since the incident occurred,” said Mr Mbaka.

He said the man who died was 32 years old and had a wife and a two-month old baby.

Kisii South police boss Beatrice Kigalu said they were investigating the incident.

The bodies were taken to Nyangena hospital mortuary.
