‘Democratic’ Tinga and his brother should explain to Kenyans why Akombe is not in the country -Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has criticized opposition chief, Raila Odinga for frustrating rights of Kenyans by inciting President Uhuru Kenyatta. Speaking on Sunday, Ruto has challenged the Orange Democratic Movement leader to explain to Kenyans the whereabouts of former IEBC commissioner, Roselyn Akombe.

“If you are democratic as you purport, you could have urged your brother to arrange for the return of Miss Roselyn Akombe and others who fled the country because of politics. She has a right just like you to be a Kenyan” Ruto quipped.

Roselyn Akombe who fled the country in 2017 said that political interference has
rendered the IEBC so dysfunctional that any hope of the commission carrying out a credible repeat election on was impossible.

In a wide-ranging interview with the Sunday Nation from New Jersey, Dr Roselyn Akombe, who quit citing frustrations from fellow commissioners and senior secretariat staff, painted a picture of a statutory body that was not just at war with itself but also one that has become a poster child for political interference.
