Arsenal’s loss at home to Crystal Palace in the Premier League was somewhat unexpected judging by the rich vein of form the Gunners had shown in the last few months. After seeing off Watford and Napoli, both away from home and keeping clean sheets in both matches, Arsenal was largely expected to see off Palace, recording a club record 11mathes winning run on home soil.

However, with fatigue creeping in having played on Thursday, Unai Emery opted for a selection gamble that backfired big time! In defense, Mavropanos showed his immaturity by conceding a needless free-kick that Palace scored from while Mustafi and Jenkison proved why they should be playing their football elsewhere next season, in Mustafi’s case, whether he should be playing football for any team is still debatable.

The German international inexplicably allowed Zaha through on goal for the visitors’ second goal which killed the game from an Arsenal perspective and but it did not come as a surprise to anyone. His main business this season has centered around losing the team more points than he wins, as he did in the North London derby when he conceded a stupid penalty with a silly foul on Harry Kane.

The Midfield Pairing of Mohamed Elneny and Matteo Guendouzi only impressed with their hair and it’s little wonder that Arsenal conceded very many clear cut chances to Palace. Arsenal still has their top 4 destiny in their own hands but Sunday’s loss showed that while the first team may be good enough, their support staff are not up to the required level. Squad depth still remains a key issue.
