3 players Manchester United must sell in the summer

After an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Everton in the English Premier League, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated that he is out to rebuild the team insisting that he will be successful at the club but there will be some players who will not be part of his success. Indeed it is clear that some players are not fit enough to put on the United shirt, something that will have to be dealt with in the summer. Below are a few players who will need to be axed from Old Trafford..

Ashley Young

A great servant of the club, the former Aston Villa man is at the wrong side of 30(+4) and is surely not part of Manchester United’s future. Young has been poor this season both on an off the ball. His crossing has not been at the level required from a Manchester United right-back while his positioning allowed Lionel Messi to nick the ball ahead of him at the Camp Nou in and fire in the first goal ending their quarter-final tie as a contest.

Despite being the assistant to Antonio Valencia as the club Captain, Young should not be playing at Old Trafford next season.

Juan Mata

The Spaniard is a special talent on his day but those days have not come often enough while in a Manchester United shirt. The former Chelsea man likes to be deployed as a #10 but with the likes of Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford in the team, he has found his chances of playing in his favorite position at a minimal. Instead, Mata has been deployed as a winger where he does not have the pace nor the physicality needed to thrive there thus ends up giving uninspiring performances.

Juan Mata’s ability has never been in doubt but for Manchester United to move forward as a team, they need a younger version of the same.
