Three thugs escaping after robbing a trader in Kilifi found themselves in a police firing line after they were trapped.
Th three are said to have robbed a couple of traders of money, and had fled towards Mazeras on a motorcycle.
Carrying more than Ksh160,000, the thugs realized that Police were trailing them prompting them Mazeras path.
Unknown to them was that the police behind them had signaled their counterparts patrolling the Northern corridor.
“A combined team of officers from Stapol Rabai and Divcrime Rabai pursued the said gang and caught up with them at Kokotoni area whereby a patrol team from Northern Corridor patrol unit had laid an ambush in wait. A shoot out ensued and three members of the gang were fatally injured,” said police.
Among the items recovered by police included a dagger stained with blood, Ksh 168,000, two AK 47 rifles loaded with 29 and 30 rounds of ammunition.
“While at the station one Mohamed Isak Eden a trader within Mazeras town came and reported that the same gang had robbed him at about 1145hrs of an unknown amount of money,” said police.
The bodies of the three were transferred to Coast General Hospital.
