After a humbling defeat by Barcelona on Tuesday night, Manchester United’s boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed who will win the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League trophy in June.

According to Solskjaer, Barca are on track and favourites to win a 6th UCL title this season.

Asked about Barca’s chances after the match a low spirited Solskjaer said the Catalans have the right mentality and quality to perform in the big stage and be successful.

“I think Barcelona will win yeah. With the quality they have in the front three. They’ve got [Ousmane] Dembele and Malcom, players there to put on.

“I wouldn’t bet against them, even though I don’t bet. But for me they will be favourites to win the whole tournament,” he stated.

Solskjaer also said his side must “aspire to Barcelona’s level” after their Champions League quarter-final defeat.

Lionel Messi inspired Barca to a 3-0 win in Tuesday’s second leg at the Nou Camp, sealing a 4-0 aggregate victory.

Nevertheless, Solskjaer, who admitted his side are well short of the level required to compete at the top, says there will be ‘additions’ this summer.

“If we want to get back to Manchester United’s true level, true traditions, we have to challenge Barcelona,” said Solskjaer.

“They were a couple of levels above over the two games.”

Messi scored two goals in four first-half minutes, with Philippe Coutinho adding a stunning long-range third in the 61st minute.

United struggled to contain their opponents and had just three shots on target over the two legs.

Speaking to BT Sport, Solskjaer added: “Lionel Messi is top quality and he was the difference, of course. At 2-0 straight after, it was game over. Messi showed his quality.”

United are interested in signing Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho but he’s valued at over £100million and the Bundesliga giants are reluctant to let him go this summer.

Right-back, left-back and central midfield are also a priority, while an extra midfielder may be needed if both Juan Mata and Ander Herrera depart when their contracts expire in July.
