More than 2,000 nurses will not be able to practice as oversight nurses’ board Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (KMPDB) has written them off.

The board has deregistered 2,275 nurses citing non compliance.

This is in light of a Constitutional Act that required them to apply for retention for the year 2019. Those who failed to make the application have had to be written off.

“The Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board during its 120th full Board meeting resolved to remove from the register a total of 2,063 medical practitioners and 212 dental practitioners who have failed to apply for retention for the year 2019 as provided under section 14 of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act,” said Board’s Chief Executive Officer Daniel Yumbya.

Those who wish to be reinstated will however be required to apply for their annual retention certificate through the Medical Board website.
