Liverpool fast-budding U-23 star headed to Premier League rivals

A fast budding Liverpool star, Rafael Camacho has been impressive this season in the U23 team as well as in the first team for the few games he has played which has earned him the eye of some English clubs as well as European ones.

Wolves could bolster their Portuguese contingent this summer with the signing of Liverpool ’s teenage winger Rafael Camacho.

The 18-year-old had been tipped to leave Anfield on loan in January and return to former club Sporting Lisbon.

However, that move failed to materialise and he been forced to settle for appearances for the Reds’ Under-23s.

According to O Jogo, Sporting Lisbon’s pursuit of the highly-rated youngster has now suffered a setback as Wolves have joined the race.

The Premier League club has close ties with Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes and their squad already boasts a number of Portugal stars including Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho.

There’s a strong interest from the Molineux club to sign Camacho, though it remains to be seen whether this would be a permanent or temporary deal.

Camacho, meanwhile, recently appeared to suggest that he’s being used in the wrong position by Jurgen Klopp in an Instagram post.

The Portuguese youngster scored a hat-trick in Liverpool Under-23s’ 6-0 win over Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Following the Leicester treble, he suggested that he shouldn’t be played in a defensive position.

Alongside an Instagram post of the Liverpool website’s report of his hat-trick which was liked by teammate Gini Wijnaldum, he wrote: “I do not know whose idea it is, but I will prove that they are mistaken about my football.

“I’m not a right defender, I’m an attacker who scores goals. This is my DNA. Happy to score 3 goals and help the team in today’s win vs Leicester.”

Camacho was first used at right-back during Liverpool’s pre-season tour to the USA last summer, and has been suggested as an understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold in the position.
