Out of the woods! How much will Tiger Wood pocket for winning the grandmasters?

The Grand Masters which has been taking place in Augusta, Georgia kicked off on Thursday afternoon, with a slew of the usual suspects in contention to win the much coveted Green Jacket.

Last year’s event was won by American Patrick Reed, who picked up his first major trophy.

The Masters is one of the most lucrative and prestigious tournaments in golf with the winner pocketing a huge sum of money.

Tiger Woods emerged the winner of the tourney, ending his 11-year drought without a trophy under his name.

It was a long journey for the sportsman who has had a long time of struggle with his relationship whee he lost his wife to divorce after he was caught cheating on her wife losing up to between $500 to $850 million in settling the divorce case.
Had numerous visits to rehab, several back and knee surgeries. He suffered and gained composure but the loss of his wife was definitely one of the major setbacks which he overcame to win the coveted prestigious prized tournament.

This year’s winner who is none other than Tiger Woods pocketed a whopping £1,515,000 ($1,980,000), with the runner up earning £909,000 ($1,188,000).

The third-place finisher left Augusta with £572,000 ($748,000) to their name, with the fourth and fifth-placed golfers receiving £404,000 ($528,000) and £295,000 ($386,375) respectively.

The top 24 finishers will earn a minimum of £76,500 ($100,000), while those who miss the cut are given £7,500 ($10,000) for their efforts.

Rory McIlroy left Georgia last April with an extra £295,000 to his name as he finished joint fifth. Tiger Woods, however, earned a mere £48,800 ($63,663) for his efforts last year as he finished the tournament tied for 32nd place.

This will, without doubt, edged in the books of history for a G.O.A.T who went ahead of all odds to win such a big tourney.
