During a Holy Mass held for DP Ruto in Kakamega by the Salvation Army Church, Boni Khalwale declared before the congregants that when the DP William Ruto will be moving to campaign in western, he will faithfully walk with him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This declared allegiance was not taken well by all the community leaders. A section of the Luhya leaders was to later caution former Senator Khalwale against forcing a candidate on the community.

Ruto was accompanied by several politicians including Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka.

MPs Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), John Walukhe (Sirisia), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East) were also present.

Earlier, COTU Boss Francis Atwoli told ‘team tanga tanga‘, led by the Deputy President, to stop wasting time and resources campaigning for the presidency “since their names will feature nowhere”.

“I assure you that after the election, Mr Hassan Joho will be in the list of those to form the new government that will provide five key slots. In the list however, you won’t see any one by the name of William Ruto taking any position, be it President, Deputy President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister [or any other]. The only people you will see are those standing for justice,” Atwoli stated.
