Jubilee leaders trade barbs over 2022 poll

A section of leaders from the Jubilee party are accusing Deputy President William Ruto and his allies of focusing on 2022 elections at the expense of the country’s unity.

The leaders led by Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda said that they will continue to push for a united and peaceful country as spearheaded by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking at a fundraiser at Churo in Tiaty constituency in Baringo County, Kamanda said that every Kenyan has a right to choose a leader of  their choice and not be dictated on how to cast their vote.

The Nominated MP added that the central region has shifted their allegiance and now are supporting the handshake agenda driven by President Kenyatta and  Raila Odinga.

Gladwel Tungo, Baringo county MP said that they were ready to back Raila Odinga or Gideon Moi’s presidency come 2022.

The leaders sentiments bring to the fore the differences that have rocked the party even as Deputy President William Ruto maintains that the ruling Jubilee party is intact.

Dr Ruto downplayed chances of the ruling party splitting ahead of the 2022 general elections.The DP said Jubilee Party was not formed by chance but founded to unite and transform Kenya.

“Unlike other political outfits, Jubilee was founded to unite and transform Kenya, and no one can dare interfere with this plan. Jubilee will continue bringing Kenyans together besides empowering them,” said Dr Ruto.

Tiaty MP William Kamket and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore who were in attendance vowed to continue supporting the war on graft.

Meanwhile, Amani National Congress has vowed to use all legal means available to eject former Secretary General Godfrey Osotsi from the party.

Speaking in Busia, secretary general Barrack Muluka warned Osotsi against attacking and spreading propaganda against the party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Muluka alleged that the former party boss was involved in misappropriation of funds.
