6 Key United Players to Leave This Summer, Sanchez Included

Alexis Sanchez has experienced the hardest time of his career at Manchester United.

The Chilean, who hasn’t played since March 2 owing to a knee injury, has scored just five goals in 41 appearances following his arrival from Arsenal in January 2018.

His wages – Sanchez is United’s highest earner, collecting £391,000-per-week – only serve to make his lack of contribution even more frustrating.

The 30-year-old is back healthy and could even play a part in helping Man United recover from a deficit in their Champions League tie against Barcelona next week.

“He’s injury-free but not sure 100 percent for [the West Ham game on Saturday]. Maybe he’s more likely for the Barcelona game,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed on Friday, per the Evening Standard.

Sanchez has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and is expected to be part of wholesale changes at the club in the summer.

There will be incomings and outgoings, and the Chile international is expected to be on his way.

SANCHEZ WILL LEAVE MAN UNITED

According to the Mirror, Sanchez is one of up to six players who will leave at the end of the season.

The others are Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo.

Finding a club willing to take on Sanchez’s wages could prove difficult but Paris Saint-Germain immediately springs to mind when thinking of potential destinations.

There’s also the question of whether Sanchez can ever return to the player he once was.

Herrera is expected to join PSG while Solskjaer confirmed on Friday that Valencia will depart after 10 seasons at United.

“We’ll see who’s here for next season and I’ve got a couple of players in my head that could be captain,” Solskjaer said, per the Metro.

As for incomings, sources reveal that United could bring in as many as five new players, with a right-back, centre-back, two midfielders and a right winger on their wishlist.

Kalidou Koulibaly, Idrissa Gueye, Declan Rice, Saul Niguez and Bruno Fernandes have all been linked.
