‘You’re too childish!’ Raila Junior slammed for claiming Ruto wanted to split Odinga’s family

When politicians, at least Kenyan politicians, give contradicting accounts of events, it is really hard to know who’s telling the truth, half-truths or lies.

For instance, when the Deputy President appeared in a Citizen TV interview on Tuesday, he claimed that Opposition leader Raila Odinga had approached him four times after the 2017 elections, before the opposition chief went ahead to engage President Kenyatta in what would culminate in a much-publicised handshake at the steps of Harambee House.

Raila’s last born son, Junior, immediately responded in a rejoinder claiming that it’s DP Ruto who approached him and his sister Winnie Odinga in a bid to create a lift between them and the ODM leader.

According to Junior, Ruto sent a senior ambassador to them with enticing government positions. The young Odingas told the ambassador to speak to their father.

“The truth is that in January 2018 he tried to entice @winnie_odinga and I with high level government positions, a kind of divide n rule tactic using a very senior Ambasador to put pressure but obviously we told him to F off and talk to the source. #WakiropokaTunatoboa,” Junior tweeted.

Many Kenyans have however read mischief with the timing in which Junior tweeted. Some have questioned why he had to wait till Ruto dropped the bombshell and not state it earlier if any of it were true.

Here are some of the reactions.

Stop being too petty man. You should have said that before @WilliamsRuto‘s interview. Dunia imesonga mbele baba. You all lost relevance, you are making these things a family thing. Kenya is bigger than you guys. You wouldn’t be trembling now if *Hustler* thing was nothing.— Jose Kigen (@JosphatKiptoo8) April 10, 2019
