‘Petty’ Raila Junior comes to father’s defense

In retaliation to Deputy President William Ruto’s claims of Opposition leader Raila Odinga approaching him four times before the famous Friday, March 9, handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, ‘petty’ Raila Junior alleged that Ruto wanted to offer him and the sister a job they declined.

In a tweet, young Raila accused the deputy president of trying to implement divide and rule political tactics on him and his sibling in order to advance his political mileage.

The Opposition leader’s son, however, clarified that he told off Ruto, and together with his sister turned down the top job offers.

He said Ruto a political nemesis of his father used a senior ambassador as proxies to lure them.

The truth is that in January 2018 Arap Mashamba(Ruto) tried to entice Winnie Odinga and I with high level government positions, a kind of divide and rule tactic using a very senior ambassador to put pressure but obviously we told him to F off and talk to the source,” he said.

During an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, April 9, Ruto claimed he refused to entertain the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader’s request to hold talks with him over a possible unity pact.

In his Tuesday revelation, the leader claimed he was skeptical about Odinga’s intentions and did not believe his quest for unity was honest and of good intentions.

I did not believe he was doing this in good faith. In Jubilee, we have one central command. Uhuru Kenyatta is the party leader and president and we all refer to him. If there is any engagement with anybody on matters politics it has to start with President Kenyatta. For every approach that was made by Raila Odinga to me, I informed the President. I personally told him I will not engage Raila Odinga,” the deputy president said.
