Mother of man who hacked Moi University student to death says son is calm person

The character of the brutal attacker who hacked a Moi University School of Medicine student on Tuesday, April 9 is finally revealed by his parents. It turns out he was apparently not a violent person, according to them.

As extensively reported , Ivy Wangeci lost her life in horrendous fashion at the hands of one Naftali Njahi Kinuthia who hacked her to death in broad daylight.

In the wake of the gruesome murder which has since shocked the country, Naftali’s mother has broken her silence and as anticipated, she is as shocked as everyone else.

According to the mother, the fatal actions of her son were out of his character as no one knew him as a violent person.

While speaking to local publishing house on phone, Nancy Kinuthia expressed her heartbreak as she claimed Naftali’s entire family was still struggling to come to terms with what had ensued.

“I have never had a problem with him and I was shocked to hear that he did that. He is a calm person and you would not expect such news. I even told his father and he still cannot believe that it is Njahi who did this,” she said.

After the attack, Naftai but was quelled by irate students and bodaboda riders who were baying for his blood after witnessing the horrendous incident.

Authorities intervened and arrested the man, but that was not after he had received a thorough clobbering which left his right side of his face virtually unrecognizable.

As for Wangeci, she was pronounced dead on arrival at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. If Naftai’s parents’ account is anything to go by, then the motive of his actions will remain a subject of debate for weeks before investigations are completed.
