Drama as Man Butchers Wife, Calls Chief to Arrest him

After ‘catching’ his wife red-handed with another man on their matrimonial bed, anger got the better part of a man in Kaplelach village Kericho county, leading him to kill his wife in cold blood using a machete.

He later called the authorities to arrest him confessing that he had just killed his wife. The man, Julius Rotich, called Soin Chief Paul Cheruiyot, confessing what he had just done.

“He called me and told me that he arrived at his home around midnight and found his wife known as Rachel with another man. A fierce fight ensued and the wife’s lover escaped. It is then that he hacked his wife severally before calling me to confess,” said the chief.

The couple was not in harmony, due to the man’s drunkenness, which perhaps weakened the bond between the two. They are said to have had frequent quarrels.

Rachael’s body was transferred to Kericho county refferal hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, three suspected highway robbers were on Monday gunned down by police after allegedly hijacking a United Nations (UN) official at Mukuyuni area in Machakos County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects were in a five-man gang and were found masquerading as traffic police officers along Machakos – Kitui Road.

Upon being ambushed by detectives, the suspects allegedly declined to surrender, prompting the officers to open fire.

“The five men were performing traffic duties along Machakos-Kitui Rd when detectives commanded them to surrender, instead they fired at the officers,” said the DCI.

Two of the suspects managed with detectives rescuing the UN official who had already been handcuffed.
