Chelsea is once again being linked with a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandoski.

Converting chances on a consistent basis has been an issue for Blues head coach Maurizio Sarri this season and he’s yet to see the best of Gonzalo Higuain following his loan arrival from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

Therefore, it would appear they are turning attention towards one of the most prolific center-forwards in European football. According to the Daily Mirror, contact has been made with the Poland international’s advisors and it would still take a hefty transfer fee in the region of £70 million to tempt the Bundesliga leaders into selling.

With a two-transfer window ban hanging over the club’s head, it’s a rumour which is unlikely to get too many Chelsea fans excited.

As recently as 11 months ago the 30-year-old was one of many names tipped to join the west London outfit and comments from his agent, Pini Zahavi, it did seem a move was possible.

“Robert feels as if he needs a change and a new challenge in his career,” he told Sport Bilt in May 2018. “Bayern’s bosses have been informed. “Money or a specific club is not Robert’s motivation for a move, as almost every top club would like to have the best striker in the world in their ranks.”

Of course, Lewandoski stayed put at the Allianz Arena and has scored 21 league goals this season and stated late last year that he is happy at the club.

“I definitely feel very happy and well in Munich,” Lewandowski told Sport Bild. “I do my best for the team to win. But it’s still about the team because everyone works hard for success here. “It’s not just me, not just Robert Lewandowski.”
