‘Health system is shambles!’ Babu Owino comes to the rescue of the quintuplets after mother’s passing

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has vowed to personally take care of the children left behind by the late Evelyn Namukhula, who won hearts after giving birth to five babies at once.

Following Namukhula’s untimely death, Babu Owino joined Kenyans in mourning the remarkable woman as he faulted the country’s health system.

According to staff from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, Namukhula passed away on Sunday, April 7 hours after complaining of chest pain.

Prior to that, it also emerged that two boys out of the quintuplets she delivered in March passed away. It marked a tragic ending to an otherwise remarkable story of a mother who, prior to her death, had delivered a total of nine children.

Babu Owino commits to care for children of deceased woman who delivered five babies at once

Babu Owino, who was clearly following Namukhula’s story, has now offered to care for the babies in the light in terms of any needs they may require during their upbringing.

Through a Facebook post, Babu Owino did not hesitate in condemning the government for what he termed as a failed health care system as he committed to helping Namukhula’s kids in any way he could.

“The era where giving birth was death sentence for women should have been over a long time ago. It is deeply disappointing to see women dying from pregnancy related complications in 2019! President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared universal healthcare one of his Big Four Agenda Items. But are the National Government and Counties doing everything possible to make this a reality? No! I commit to support her family during this trying time. We will do our best to ensure her surviving children are looked after,” He wrote.

The late Namukhula’s husband Herbert Wawire, along with their four other children, are currently staying in Sisokhe Village, Navakholo Constituency.
