Oburu Odinga cautions Senator Orengo against verbal diarrhea

Siaya Senator James Orengo plot to institute Deputy President William Ruto’s impeachment motion continues to raise temperatures in the country.

The latest person to comment on Orengo’s plot is East African Legislative Assembly member Oburu Oginga who has cautioned lawyer James Orengo against going public on sensitive issues without consulting given his closeness with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

In a statement that caused anxiety within ODM and the Jubilee team, Orengo warned that he would initiate impeachment motion against Ruto, a move that has caused divisions and threatened unity pact between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Orengo is seen as a close ally of Raila, so every statement he makes can easily be misconstrued to mean that it has the party leader’s blessings, though he has freedom of speech, he should consult to avoid being misunderstood,” Oburu said.

Last week, reports emerged that Mr Odinga was unhappy with Orengo, citing instances such as statement that Orengo had said there was a ‘secret pact’ between Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

But in multiple interviews after impeachment remarks, Orengo maintains that it’s solely his own idea, adding that it’s not new since he’d done it before to retired President Daniel Moi.

On Ruto, Dr Oburu accused the DP of being quick to defend people dragged in corruption deals, questioning his interest. He said if in deed the DP is clean, he should let those implicated carry their own cross.

“Why I fault the DP is because I have not heard his name in the corruption allegations but every time he comes to defend those who have been implicated, he needs to let the corrupt carry their on cross,” the Eala MP said.
