In spite of the biting hunger in Turkana and Baringo, the beer donation by a Chinese company to Baringo residents has excited Kenyans online.
The residents had gathered each hoping to get a share of the relief food delivered to them by a Chinese Company, Ghuanshan International Mining Company Limited; Their banner read, “Relief food to Tiaty, committee to save life.”
Minutes after 20 cartons of beer and 24 cans were handed over to the locals for distribution, a fight ensued between them each seeking to get the lions share.
“Locals in this area love liquor so I saw it fit to make it part of donations to hunger-ravaged villages,” said Mr Han Ke.
Users instantly turned into nutrition experts explaining the benefits of beer to starving human beings.
In the reactions, some users seemed to share similar sentiments as those expressed by Baringo residents after the donation that getting high would help them forget their troubles.
