Migori residents are in shock after a class eight boy at Sopragenya Primary School reportedly took his own life after completing his end term examinations.
The incident was confirmed by area police boss Joseph Nthenge who linked it to a possible suicide.
Police in Nyatike Sub County, Migori County, have launched a probe into an incident where the primary school pupil committed suicide on Wednesday. The incident was confirmed by area Sub Chief Jeremiah Okoth who said that the boy left for a lunch break as usual in the company of his fellow pupils.
However, he never got home and was later found by herders hanging on a tree, in what is suspected to have been a case of self-hanging. The administrator said that investigations have in a bid to unravel the possible causes behind the incident.
The body of the deceased was moved to the Lake Side Hospital pending investigations. This comes barely two weeks after a Tanzanian national, Chacha Olupe, committed suicide in a similar manner in Muhuru Bay, in Nyatike, where the body was found by locals hanging from a rope tied to a tree in a thicket.
