Imagine going about with your everyday business, and a group of people come into your home and set your house on fire. Some incidents that have been occurring in the Kenyan streets have left most citizens in fear. Fear of the Unknown. One could be going about their business only to be confirmed dead hours later.
Homa bay residents are in fear after Police have launched a manhunt for a group of assailants suspected of killing two men in a vengeful attack. The first incident happened at Kigol Village on Tuesday night, where the group pounced on Bernard Otieno and killed him.
The assistants reportedly ejected the 36-year-old businessman from his house and set his property ablaze, before throwing him into the fire. They then proceeded to the home of George Owino Kodada in Kogol Village at around midnight where, according to the wife of the deceased, they set his house on fire.
However, the wife, who is a teacher at Oindo Primary School, managed to break a window and evacuate his wife and six children, but the group chased after the man and beat him to death.
Confirming the incident, area Assistant Chief Maurice Akumu said the deaths appeared to be retaliatory attacks for the death of a man one week ago. “We are getting information that the two were accused of murdering the health worker a week ago.
However, it is wrong for residents to take the law into their hands. They should have reported the matter to the relevant authorities for punitive legal action,” the administrator told said.
Police commander Esther Seroney said that police officers have launched a manhunt for the assailants. The chief said that the assailants escaped into Lake Victoria using a motorboat.
