Real Madrid makes a shock move to sign Man utd Defender

REAL MADRID are reportedly weighing up a bid for Manchester United star Eric Bailly.

The Ivorian hasn’t enjoyed his finest season at Old Trafford and was one of the stars at odds with Jose Mourinho earlier in the campaign.

Bailly hasn’t featured for United since the Champions League victory over PSG at the beginning of March.

But it appears the defender’s performances have caught the eye of Zinedine Zidane.

According to the Sun, Madrid are weighing up a £35m bid for Bailly this summer as they look to rebuild their struggling squad.

The publication claims Bailly is ready to move on and is aware of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans to add to his defence at the end of the season.

The former Villarreal defender apparently caught the eye of Zidane during his previous stint in La Liga.

Bailly is out of contract next summer, along with a host of other key United stars such as David de Ge and Nemanja Matic.

Madrid defender Raphael Varane has himself been linked with a move away in recent weeks.

But despite being touted as a potential new arrival at Old Trafford, Zidane has appeared to rule out a summer exit.

“I don’t want a Madrid without Varane,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

“He’s a young player, he’s been here for eight years, he’s doing fine.

Varane

“He didn’t say anything to me.

“He’s at the best club in the world and he knows it, he’s won a lot of things.

“There are many things that we are talking about changing next year, but you have to respect all of the players who are here.

“Talking about cleaning (out the dressing room) seems disrespectful.

“We’re going to have to make changes, but this is not the time to talk about it.”

CalcioNapoli24 last month claimed Varane’s agent and brother have already been in contact with Old Trafford chiefs over a €80m (£68m) summer transfer.

Speaking recently, Varane refused to comment on speculation regarding his future.
