Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has rubbished a report that circulated that its county workers will not be paid unless they register with controversial Huduma Namba.
The Huduma Namba was launched in Machakos county by President Uhuru Kenyatta alongside ODM leader, Raila Odinga.
Alfred Mutua termed the letter, which was allegedly signed by Public Service and Quality Management Chief Officer Joseph Ochwada, as fake saying his government was not in support of the message communicated therein.
“This letter is not an approved letter; it is not authorized; it is not a letter that we’re aware of. I’ve asked my officers about it and they’ve said they don’t know where it came from, so I’ve launched investigations,” he said.
He added that the issue needs policy decision which can only be reached by the cabinet and confirmed that they have not had a cabinet decision.

The initiative was opposed by a section of leaders and lawyers who termed it as another scandal and that it was depriving people of privacy.
The High Court allowed registration with the NIIMS beginning Tuesday as had been earlier planned.
However, the programme has been barred from taking DNA data and GPS coordinates as part of the NIIMS data, pending determination of the case challenging the exercise.
