Type of passengers you’ll find in Kenyan matatus

More often than not you usually use matatus to travel unless you own your own car. If that’s the case, you might have come across different types of passengers, from those who love to eat almost everything to those who sleep throughout the journey.

Below are the nine types of passengers you’re going to find in Kenyan matatus at any given moment or day!!!

The Phone Addicts:Every time you walk into a matatu you’ll definitely find a few guys busy of their phones, either texting, playing games or keeping up with the latest news and trending topics. Others are busy on Facebook, WhatsApp or even Instagram as they find it a great way to pass time while before they reach their destinations.

The Guy Hitting on a Girl:These are the guys who start with lame lines like “Hii mat inatake long kujaa” and the moment a lady responds it’s like they have given them the green light to talk throughout the journey. Surprisingly, most of these guys end up getting the lady’s number as simple as that. I won’t judge though, for no one knows where or how they’ll meet their Mr/Mrs right

The Seat Fillers:These are the ones who sit in a mat to fool you into thinking that it’s almost full, so you jump in and when you think the mat is almost leaving they excuse themselves to get out. They are friends with the makangas and I bet they get paid at the end of the day for fooling you.

The Eaters:These are the passengers, often ladies, who get into the matatu with their fast foods that have a delightful smell capable of making you feel hungry even after having your lunch a few minutes ago. Most of them skip lunch and buy chips and fried chicken to eat on their journey. It’s kind of unfair because not everyone in a public matatu can afford what you’re eating and it would be best to eat in a restaurant or at home.

The Phone Peepers:These are the guys who when you’re busy reading your favorite news on your phone, or on WhatsApp, Facebook or watching a video, they keep peeping and staring long enough to drive you mad. You get irritated and choose to either turn the screen away from them or even put your phone in your pocket. Honesty these are the most disgusting passengers you can ever share a seat with in a matatu.

Music Lovers:These passengers have earphones or headphones on their ears and will talk to no one for the entire journey. They will keep shaking their heads in tune with the songs while some even go to an extent of singing along to the music which often leave passengers sited close to them disgusted.
