President Uhuru set to lauch NIIMS Registration in Machakos County

President Uhuru Kenyatta will be expected to launch the Huduma Namba registration in Mwala, Machakos county.

This is after the High Court ruled the registration could continue provided Kenyans are not compelled to be listed and DNA is not taken as part of the drive.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has welcomed Kenyans from all parts of the country for the drive also known the National Integrated Identity Management System.

Mutua earlier said the county is excited to host the President at Masii grounds.

“By President Uhuru Kenyatta choosing Machakos county for the national launch of the registration is great respect to us. We invite guests from all over the country to be part of the historical event,” the governor said.

He spoke during a joint press briefing with Eastern Regional Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru and Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka at Masii grounds. 

Mutua said the entire Ukambani leadership has been supportive for the event’s success.

“We are all working towards one course of providing services to the electorate. I have met with leaders from Eastern region and officials from the Office of the President. Preparations towards hosting the President are complete,” Mutua said.

“Hi namba si ya shetani, ni namba kama zile zingine,” he. said (The Huduma Namba is not satanic). He encouraged residents to turn out in large number and register.

“After getting the Huduma Namba, Kenyans will be able to access government services without carrying many other documents. Just one number will help sort out this,” Nakoru said.

He said preparations have been successful due to unity and good relations between national and county governments in the region.

“We are proud of it. Security is alright, residents should be seated by 9am. the registration will continue for the next 45 days,” Nakoru said.

Musyoka said Huduma Namba is of great importance and a solution to many problems Kenyans are facing.

“People haven’t understood what Huduma Namba is. Some are misleading Kenyans, it is not devilish,” Musyoka said.

“Instead of having so many documents why can’t we have one number?” he asked.

Mutua said all developed countries use Huduma Namba while Third World nations continue using several numbers.
