The women drawn from the greater Tharaka Nithi county, Chuka/Igambang’ombe, Maara and Tharaka constituencies, yanked their undergarments and strew them at the county government’s headquarters.

This, they did in protest of what is believed to have been a slur by the county boss- Governor Muthomi Njuki.

Respected local elders would later come in to warn the governor on an impending string of bad luck that was just about to befall the county as a result.

The governor, in his defense, stated that the gimmicks were politically motivated as his opponents used the customs to interfere with his work.

Offer blood

“To cleanse the county government offices and save our county from bad omen, Governor Njuki must give a bull to be slaughtered and blood sprinkled at the gate where the women underwears were dumped,” the elder elucidated.
