Clash of the Titans! Chelsea leads Europe’s elite in que up to sign Frankfurt rising star in monster fee deal

Chelsea are leading Manchester United and Arsenal in the transfer race to sign potential star Luka Jovic, reports say.

Jovic is one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe having scored 23 goals in 37 appearances this season for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are desperate to sign Jovic, who is on a two-year loan from Benfica. Eintracht will trigger an option to buy the Serbian permanently this summer.

Spanish outlet Marca claim that while Barcelona and Real are keen on the 21-year-old, Chelsea are at the front of the queue among Jovic’s English suitors.

Eintracht will demand a monster fee for Jovic should they decide to sell this summer with some reports claiming the German side have set a £67million asking price.

Manchester City too are tracking Jovic, but Metro.co.uk understands the Sky Blues have been put off by Eintracht’s valuation.

United have a host of striking options at the club, as do Arsenal who house Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their squad.

Chelsea are rumoured to be ready to re-start their search for a No.1 striker in the summer as on-loan forward Gonzalo Higuain has failed to impress.

Any move for Jovic though could be blocked by the fact Chelsea are facing a two-window transfer ban.

Fifa rejected Chelsea’s request to have their ban frozen during the appeal process.
