The authorities in Kenya have been struggling in working together with the citizens to solve criminal puzzles that could be easier if communication channels would open up between the two.
However yet another reason why the police and ordinary civilians in Kenya may never get along has surfaced in shocking revelations.
A security officer attached to the Senate has been arrested and taken the Central Police Station in Nairobi after he allegedly sodomized a student at the University of Nairobi.
According to a statement made by the third year student, the officer arrested and took him to an office in Parliament buildings and sodomized him repeatedly.
“This man met me in town. He called me and when I approached, he identified himself as a police officer. He told me that I am under arrest for roaming in town with an intention to commit a crime. I told him that I am a student but he would not listen to me,” said the student.
The officer arrested the student outside his area of operation. His areas of jurisdiction include the main parliament buildings, Protection House, Continental House, Harambee Sacco Plaza and County Hall.
Despite making reports on the same day, the police were reluctant to take action and it took them four days to arrest the officer, who is said to be well connected in the security circles.
The said officer is reported to be related to a senior official at the Parliamentary Service Commission.
