Former Jubilee interim Chairman David Murathe has warned deputy president to be wary of the corruption allegation labled against him.

Speaking in Kandara Murang’a County,Murathe said that the deputy can be arrested just like anybody else.

Murathe was reactive to the corruption cases reported across the Country.

Over the last 6 months Murathe broke his silent when he said that no one in mount Kenya region will be duped to support the deputy president.

Murathe echoed Uhuru’s remarks, adding that despite the resistance by Ruto, he will be arrested if found culpable of corruption related deals.

“The other day, the President said he will not spare his friends, family or closest political allies. I don’t know whether the ally is me or Maoka Maore. I have heard him (Ruto) complaining though,” he said.

He added: “If you go to Korea, two presidents are serving terms in prison. There is a lady president who came to Kenya recently. She’s serving 10 years. Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel is facing corruption charges. Our very own DCJ is in court. Even if you’re Deputy President, we shall arrest you.”

Early this year, Murathe, a close political ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta caused a storm within Jubilee Party when he warned that the president will not back Dr Ruto in 2022 polls. He would resign from his position in Jubilee days later.

Interestingly, despite openly castigating DP Ruto, President Uhuru Kenyatta did not come out to rebuke the statement by Murathe further fueling anxiety and tension within the ruling party. He’s believed to have spoken the president’s mind.

Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta met Dr Ruto at Harambee Annex offices in Nairobi with pundits claiming the two had to meet to curb a possible fallout within Jubilee Party. Details of their meeting still remain scanty.

Ruto allies had accused President Uhuru of trying to frustrate the DP presidential ambitions.
