Liverpool’s fairy-tale Premier League season continued with a very vital win over Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs at Anfield. The Reds, however, made very hard work of the 3 points, the winning goal coming just seconds to the end of the 90 minutes after Lucas Moura gave Anfield a scare when he leveled matters with 20 minutes of play left.
The win ensured that Jurgen Klopp’s side remains top of the table with 79 points two better than Pep Guardiola’s side who have a game in hand and were worthy 2-0 victors over Claudio Ranieri’s relegation-bound Fulham.
Westham’s recent woes under Manuel Pellegrini were made worse by their meek display at home to Everton, eventually losing 2-0 while AFC Bournemouth’s away days troubles continued with yet another loss, this time to the ever improving 2016 Premier League Champions Leicester City under their new manager Brendan Rodgers.
Southampton were worthy winners in their relegation
In the race for the top 4, Manchester United kept up the pressure on Arsenal and Spurs with a hard fought 2-1 winover Watford at Old Trafford while Chelsea were very lucky to leave pick up all three points away to relegation candidates Cardiff. Chelsea’s second goal was clearly miles offside but the officials never saw it(how?).
Unai Emery’s Arsenal will have the chance to go to third on the table when they play Newcastle on Monday night at the Emirates Stadium.
