Even if you’re Deputy President, we shall arrest you, Murathe to DP Ruto

The rivarly between DP Ruto and Former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe is becoming more intense as time moves on and not ending soon.

While speaking at a gathering in Murang’a county, Mr Murathe called out at DP Ruto insisting he was not special in the ongoing fight against corruption.

According to Murathe, “The other day, the President said he will not spare his friends, family or closest political allies. I don’t know whether the ally is me or Maoka Maore. I have heard him (Ruto) complaining though.”

In addition he said,”If you go to Korea, two presidents are serving terms in prison. There is a lady president who came to Kenya recently. She’s serving 10 years. Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel is facing corruption charges. Our very own DCJ is in court. Even if you’re Deputy President, we shall arrest you.”

Early this year, Murathe, a close political ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta caused a storm within Jubilee Party when he warned that the president will not back Dr Ruto in 2022 polls. He would resign from his position in Jubilee days later.

Interestingly, despite openly castigating DP Ruto, President Uhuru Kenyatta did not come out to rebuke the statement by Murathe further fueling anxiety and tension within the ruling party. He’s believed to have spoken the president’s mind.

Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta met Dr Ruto at Harambee Annex offices in Nairobi with pundits claiming the two had to meet to curb a possible fallout within Jubilee Party. Details of their meeting still remain scanty.
