A 19-year-old student has expressed his interest in the 2022 Nakuru senatorial race.

The teenager, Davis Kiprono Rutoh, is a second year student at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM). He is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.

The young man who hails from Chebaraa village, Keringet Ward, Kuresoi South Sub-County noted that he intends to dive into the murky waters of politics with the aim of bringing change to the people of Nakuru.

Davis further stated that the country is in need of political hygiene, which he argued can only be achieved if Kenyans elect young leaders with fresh ideas.

“There is need for political hygiene in Kenya, therefore, it requires fresh minds with ideas. Therefore, I take this moment to honour the request of Nakuru County people to aspire for senatorial seat 2022,” tweeted Davis.

Davis has gone ahead to create a fan page on Facebook which currently has 575 followers.

If Davis unseats Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, he will make history as the youngest senator in the country.

Among the youngest senators in the country include Mercy Chebeni who was 24 when she was nominated by the ODM Party and Senators Anwar Loitiptip (Lamu) and Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) who won the elections at the ages of 28 and 33 respectively.
