Shock as governor Ole Lenku invades Tata Chemical and held workers hostage

Kajiado governor Joseph ole Lenku on Wednesday led more than 5000 members of the maasai community to paralyze the operations of the Tata chemicals magadi ltd and held the workers hostage for more than three hours.

Accompanied by Five MCAs, the crowd paralyzed operations with workers hurriedly closing the factory and running for their lives.

The Governor reiterated that Tata Chemicals Magadi Ltd must give the community what belongs to the people through payment of land rates and job opportunists.

They have dispossessed the community of land amounting to 190,000 acres of land which is under their lease but is not under any utilization, ” said Governor Lenku.

“No one will harass you.The community has no problem with the workers. We have a problem with the management,” said the Governor to workers who were terrified.

The governor then led the locals along the streets,Tata chemical workers then joined the demonstrations on a rampage in the factory premises where they took possession of major installations.

All managers fled the premises leaving hapless workers to join the Governor.

Police officers from a post within the company watched helplessly with tear gas canisters ready but when they realized there was no destruction of property, they retreated to the police post where they watched the demonstrations from a distance.
