Just how well do you know Uganda’s Dictator President Yoweri Museveni?

We all know he has refused to relinquish power for the past 33 years. Thos who have tried to oppose him like Besigye and Bobi Wine have felt the wrath of his policemen.

But do you know that the dictator has a pastor in his homestead?

Patience Museveni Rwabwogo is the second born child of Yoweri Museveni. She is the lead Pastor of Covenant Nations Church.

But just how did the 41 year old rise from a political family to lead the Lord’s sheep?

In her recent sermon, Pastor Patience recounted the ‘life-changing’ moment she heard God speak to her and the events that proceeded her move to evangelism.

“The greatest honor of my life is preaching the gospel, she said.

When I was growing up, there were preachers who come to Uganda – Great men and women of God. People like TL Osborn and Daisy Osborn, Reinhard Bonnke and Dr. Morris Cerullo. Every time they would come for these big crusades, they would come to greet my parents ( President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Janet Museveni), and I would get to see them as children.

As I saw these great men and women of God, in my mind I would say; if there is something I would never do in life, it is to preach the gospel. I would look at them and think; one must be a very exceptional person to be able to do that. I thought one had to be a very Holy person and had to have a very dip relationship with God to be able to say; thus says the Lord.

I gave my life to Christ when I was 11 years old, and know I would follow God and do what He wants em to do, except to be a preacher. I thought I would always support people who are serving God, in Church – but not me preaching personally. I grew up, finished school, started working, got married and had children.

In about 2005, I started having this same vision. Every night for about a year I could see the same thing; an image of the continent of Africa. In this vision, Africa was dark, and I would hear a voice that would say; out of what was called darkness will come a great light. And then I saw someone blowing a great trumpet – then a light started coming out of Uganda. It started as a very small light but grew bigger and bigger. As it grew bigger it expanded into other parts of Africa, until the whole continent was full of light. Then it started going out of Africa to the world.

And the Lord said, the light will come from within you – meaning us. He said; just as a life is changed from the inside out, Africa will be changed from the inside out. He said; you are always looking outside yourself, looking to other people/countries to be your light, but the light is inside of you. And as that light shines brighter, it will go out to other nations.

I asked the Lord, why is the light coming out of Uganda, is it because I am Ugandan and you are taking to me? He said; No, Uganda is the heart of Africa. Just as a light comes from a heart that is transformed, a life is transformed. When Uganda is transformed, He said, Africa will be transformed.

My last question to God was who is that person blowing the trumpet? He said to me; you are the one blowing the trumpet. I was very surprised, I didn’t understand what God was taking about. I tried to ignore that Voice for about a year.

In 2006, I was attending a conference somewhere and the Lord said; you are either going to follow me, and follow my path, or you are going to go your own path. That day I made the decision to follow God’s path not knowing where it was going to lead me.

It’s a long story, but to cut it short, a Church (Covenant Nations Church) started in our home for 3 years. We were in a tent for a very long time until we were able to have a physical structure that we are in today.

God has a purpose for Africa. God has a purpose for you. And as you fulfill your purpose in life, Uganda fulfills its purpose. And as Uganda fulfills its purpose, Africa fulfills its purpose. As Africa fulfills its purpose, it becomes a light to the world.

Many people don’t think there is any light in Africa, and many people think there is no light in Uganda, and many people thing there is no light in you or me. But what I want to share with you is that once you discover the light that is in you today, and you allow that light to shine, it will affect your family, community, city, nation, the continent and world.”
