Kabogo to lead peaceful demonstration over alleged grabbing of college land

Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo is set to lead demonstration in Kiambu over alleged grabbing of over 200 acres college land belonging to Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology.

Speaking to Daily Active Kenya,Kabogo said that the concerned Kenyans will assemble at the District Commissioner office then proceed with the peaceful demonstration.

In 2017,KIST student held demonstration accusing the private developer of grabbing the institution land.

Kabogo states that the institute, which is located at the heart of Kiambu town, was founded by President Jomo Kenyatta and other leaders from the county in 1971.

“The land was bought with money raised through fund-raisers and we cant allow selfish individual to grab it for their selfish gain,we will not stop until its reverted back to the institution,”Kabogo said.

Kabogo has assured that the police will provide adequate security as he has written to the commanding officer Kiambu police station.

“Every person has a right to assemble and hold peaceful demonstration under article 37 of the Kenyan constitution,”he said.

He states that the foundation stone of the institution was laid by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta,the father to president Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We want the college to get its land back nothing else,Mzee Jomo Kenyatta laid the foundation stone and we must protect his legacy by reverting the land back to the college,KIST has Been the heart of Kiambu locals,”he said.
