IEBC releases voters names for Embakasi and Ugenya

As Embakasi South and Ugenya Constituencies by election approaches the
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) has released names of registered voters which will be displayed at polling stations seven days before the by-elections.

The commission has urged voters to confirm their names and polling stations.

In the Embakasi South race, Angela Mwikali will fly the Third Way Alliance party flag. She will face off with ODM’s Irshad Sumra and Wiper’s Julius Mawathe.

Immediate former Ugenya MP Christopher Karan will be looking to win back the seat after his win was nullified by the courts.

Ugenya seat has attracted four candidates, including Daniel Juma of GDDP and Brian Omondi of Thirdway Alliance Party.

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga threatened to “freeze” development in Ugenya constituency if residents do not vote for ODM candidate Karan.

He also warned community health workers from Ugenya that they risk “losing” their jobs if they don’t vote for Karan. The workers are on the county payroll.

“Just like ODM party leader Raila Odinga said, we should not embarrass him in the by-election, it is the same way community health workers on the county payroll should not embarrass me,” Rasanga said.
